I was referred to Mr Choksy by my GP for my varicose veins. Mr Choksy was very friendly and personal and not at all intimidating. He assessed me and told me he'd take me on the NHS. He explained what would happen and the process but did advise me that it could take up to a year to be called back. I got a cancellation and was back on the next business day (after the weekend)! I was very nervous about the operation as I'm quite a squeamish and anxious person. The staff and hospital were absolutely incredible. Even waiting around was a pleasant experience. Everyone was friendly and the hospital was the cleanest I have ever been in. When the time came for my trip to theatre, I got really nervous and considered asking if I could cancel ;). But everyone was very chatty and I was assigned a person to hold my hand and talk to me (I'm sure she was thrilled) and it went by reasonably quickly. I won't lie, it's a bit grim. But so worth it. I've only had the first procedure (ablation) and my veins are 95% better. I have no aching, no itching, no restless legs, no discomfort and my veins are just slightly raised rather than large and bulging. I am so pleased with the result and would have paid for it if I'd known the improvement I'd see. I also had to wear my stockings for 2 weeks in 30+ degree weather and even that was bearable. I started doing hour long walks 3 days after and running and doing high impact exercise again 2 weeks after the procedure and flew short haul about 5 weeks later (for recovery reference). Scarring-wise I have a few little marks that look like spider bites and that is all. I have nothing but positive things to say about my visit.

Consultant was amazing. Only point to share was in my previous visits my sister and my son was able to go down to cafe he was excited again to do this and my sister and son went down the cafe was closed. They came back to me in waiting area and lady from reception approached and said they are not to go into ward they explained they did not they went to lifts to get to cafe like they had done before she said well cafe is closed I stepped in and asked where was this stated it was closed as they had to go to lifts and down to find this out. She wasn’t very nice in her approach I said if cafe is shut and lift shouldn’t be used then a sign should be placed on the door of lifts. She said they were busy and would normally stop each person coming in to see where they were going. For me if they are to busy and family was going to cafe this was not an issue and she again said shouldn’t be going to ward which they were not the entrance to the ward is beside the lifts they used. Not once did she state apologies no issue with going to cafe and accept that a sign would be useful when closed going forward. Each time we have been there everyone on reception has been lovely apart from this one lady while waiting for results which can be life changing this type of approach and contact is not ideal

The care I received from David and the whole team at the Cleveland Clinic was superb. David was clear, friendly and reassuring and everyone else involved - nurses, reception staff, porters, anaesthetist, theatre staff, recovery staff, ancillary staff - were just so kind. Post-op visit was the same. Nothing was too much trouble and David took the time to listen and explain everything in detail. Nothing was rushed. Thank you to everyone.

I booked to see Mr Natt as i had suddenly developed pressure in my inner, right ear and had severe loss of hearing. I found the experience very relaxed and pleasant. Mr Natt explained the possible causes in detail and undertook examinations of my ears and inner nose. He referred me for a MRI and hearing test and suggested I obtain and use an 'ear popper' for 10 days. I'm booked to see him again after this.
